Beginning your trip from the Marina Botafoch in Eivissa town, you can soak up the lively, bustling atmosphere of the center of Ibiza. Sailing north you can stop off at the white sandy beaches of Cala Llonga and take a swim in the clear waters. Up the coast, Santa Eularia des Riu has a relaxed atmosphere and is home to Ibiza’s famous hippy markets. Travelling northeast from Santa Eularia des Riu, you will reach the small island of Cala Boix with its rocky cliff tops that has several good fish restaurants. Ses Caleteson the north eastern tip of the island has a small pebbly beach, and the surrounding area is a good place to go walking and take in the views. Travelling down the west coast of the island, it is worth visiting the pretty port town of San Miquel. In this area there are unspoiled beaches and the Cova de Can Marçà – a large natural cove over 10,000 years old, previously used by smugglers. Sailing south you will reach Cala Gracio which offers some nice little coves for exploration. Further south, the busy tourist town of Sant Antoni has a marina with good facilities. From Sant Antoni you can also sail across to the uninhabited island of Sa Conillera. Down on the southern end of the island, Porroig is a sheltered bay and more great beaches can be found in this area. Before returning to Ibiza, it is worth stopping off at Las Salinas near Playa d’en Bossa, as it is a beautiful beach great for celebrity spotting, it also has some excellent restaurants.
Sailing Conditions
Ibiza experiences more than 300 sunny days per year and the winds are generally stable during the summer months. The many coves and beaches provide good, sheltered anchorages, but may be busy during the summer months.
